Our review: We spent six months at this park and made
many new friends. You will notice the
word “Retreat” in the name. This is not
your typical “Park”. They truly prefer
to have retirees stay here and when we reach that age where we can no longer
travel, I wouldn’t mind settling down here.
When we were looking for places in Texas to spend the winter, we started
searching online. When we read this line
in the description, “Thirty years ago, God blessed our family with the
stewardship of this place we now call Shady Oaks”, we decided we
wanted to stay here. We highly recommend
this park. One word of advise: don’t
trust your Google Maps, call Shady Oaks for directions. Leave
Highway 29 at the west end of the Inks
Lake Bridge .
Turn south on Llano County Road 301. Follow our signs for 2.5 miles. It is directly below Inks
Lake Dam
and just across the river from Inks
Lake State
Park .
